Policy Writing

Overview
Health and Safety policies and procedures form the basis of an effective Occupational Health and Safety Management System. While downloading policies found on the internet may seem convenient, we don’t encourage this approach. Health and safety laws evolve over time based on the changing nature of work and updates to research.
Contacting an HSPI consultant can ensure that you have policies and procedures in place that accurately capture the work that you do and are compliant with the law.
What We Do
HSPI designs all policies and procedures with your organization as the primary focus. We will meet with you and your staff to understand what you do before we provide customized recommendations. Our initial consultations are used to gather information related to your organizations work activities, locations, specific hazards, and history. Based on this information, we will develop a recommendation that includes the type of documents required and the topic areas that require attention.
How We Support You
We don’t just write policies and leave; we ensure they align with your needs and company culture. Our support can be tailored to your requirements, providing as much or as little assistance as necessary.

Support can include:
In addition to ensuring legal compliance, we can design a policy and procedure manual to meet the needs of your customers as well. HSPI has worked with numerous contractors to ensure their policy and procedure manual meets the standards of their customers during the contractor pre-approval process. This also includes uploading policies to digital contractor approval services, such as ISNetworld or Contractor Compliance. Our consultants will be with you every step of the way, from determining what policies you need, through to achieving the final pre-approval so you can get the contract you’re aiming for.

Areas We Have Experience In
HSPI’s policy writers have years of experience drafting policies in a wide range of areas. Some areas have included violence and harassment, hazard assessment and control, fit for duty and workplace impairment, return to work and accommodations planning, and many more.
In addition to our wide range of topic areas, HSPI has experience developing policies for organizations of all sizes. We have developed policy and procedure manuals for brand new small businesses in their first few weeks of work through to mature companies with over 3,000 employees who have been in operation for over a century.
Another key strength is the wide range of industries our staff have supported. We have experience providing policies and procedures for organizations that range from municipal governments, healthcare and social services organizations, First Nations communities, mines, and both light and heavy industrial settings.
